My Story
How is a Website Made?
2007
In the first year of middle school, my first information technology class sparked my interest in computers. Later, I explored the internet at internet cafes. One night, unable to sleep, I pondered the question, “How is a website made?”
Getting My First Personal Computer
2011
During my sophomore year of high school, my mom bought me my first laptop. Although its specifications weren’t great, it gave me the opportunity to delve into studying the internet, writing blogs, and learning programming.
From Second in the School to Nearly Dropping Out
2012
After getting my personal computer, I spent most of my spare time learning about the internet. Coupled with dating, my academic performance plummeted, from second in the entire school to nearly dropping out.
My First Earnings from the Internet
2014
During summer vacations in college, I wrote a blog post tutorial on setting up a website and posted it online. It included affiliate links to hosting services, and within a few months, I earned over $2000. This marked my first income online, a classic example of content marketing.
Receiving the Inspirational Scholarship
2014
During college, I majored in computer networking, finding it incredibly fascinating. I would pre-study the next day’s lessons every night, consistently ranking among the top students in my year. I frequently received national motivational scholarships and first-class scholarships.
Many years later, a junior student told me, “Whenever the whole class couldn’t solve a problem, our teacher would mention you, saying that with you around, such a situation never occurred.”
Starting a Hosting Company with Classmates
2015
Seeing the success of my promotions for hosting providers and the positive reception of my courses focusing on servers and networks, I spent a long time researching how to start my own hosting service. After thoroughly understanding the process and necessary technologies, I saved up a few thousand dollars as startup capital and began this venture.
Acquiring 2000 Paid Customers
2016
After setting up the hosting company’s website and services, I began content marketing, writing numerous tutorials and distributing them across major content platforms. Within about a year, without any advertising costs and solely through content marketing, we had nearly 2000 paid customers.
Interning at a Well-Known Cloud Provider
2016
As university was ending, I interned at Amazon Cloud, working on Zabbix monitoring operations. Though it was tough, I learned a lot and met many experts. When I left, our CTO even tried to retain me.
Darkest Hour: The First Startup Ends Abruptly
2018
In 2018, when our hosting business was flourishing (with 100% annual growth), we faced a huge setback. Due to a crackdown, two clients running adult websites on our servers got us into legal trouble. With little legal awareness, we were implicated and fined heavily. Unsure if other clients also had illegal content, we refunded clients and shut down all operations. We were inexperienced and scared at the time.
Founding Uyun Hosting
2019
After some reflection, we decided to continue doing what we were good at but more cautiously, strictly rejecting any illegal use.
Marrying My Long-Time Girlfriend
2020
In 2020, I married my university girlfriend. We had been in love for six years and finally tied the knot.
Our baby was born in 2021.
2021
Due to pneumonia, the hospital stay wasn’t long, but we were very worried. We hope for a lifetime of health and safety for him.
Rebranding Uyun Hosting to Hosting See
2023
Most of our clients used WordPress for their websites. Traditional hosting had low barriers to entry and became increasingly challenging to operate. After consideration, we pivoted to specialized WordPress hosting services, rebranding as Hosting See.
Establish the Hostsee website to review web hosting services.
2024
Many of our clients are engaged in foreign trade. Since 2022, we have been building and maintaining independent websites for them. However, I noticed that the performance of many of these websites was not satisfactory. This led me to research how to find the right hosting for each website. After helping several clients achieve success, I founded HostSee. The goal of HostSee is to help more clients achieve success.
